NSW:Police confirm racing fraud investigation

Police are investigating an alleged fraud scandal inside Harness Racing New South Wales
and the fire bombing of a chief steward's car.

Fairfax and News Limited say the Firearms and Organised Crime Squad has confirmed an
investigation was underway after police were contacted about claims that people in the
industry knew which horses would not be swabbed for banned substances during random testing
at mid-week meetings.

Such information could affect betting activity and the outcome of those races.

Police have also confirmed they are investigating the fire-bombing of chief steward
Bill Cable's car in front of his home last week.
