Fed: Costello says drought a drag but outlook good

CANBERRA, Feb 5 AAP - The drought would continue to blight Australia's export performancefor at least the first quarter of 2003, Treasurer Peter Costello said today.
But he said there was hope on the horizon as the United States embarked on a spendingspree to stimulate its economy, which would flow through to other countries, includingAustralia.
Mr Costello's comments came as the Reserve Bank left interest rates on hold for theeighth month in a row, allowing home owners to breathe a sigh of relief.
