QLD: Major floods in two north Queensland towns
BRISBANE, Feb 13 AAP - The tropical north Queensland townships of Gairloch and Euramo were
suffering major flooding today as a result of cyclone Rona.
The Herbert River at Gairloch was at 11.5 metres above its normal level at 11.15am (AEST) -
close to its peak of 11.65 metres at 10pm yesterday, the weather bureau said.
At Euramo, the Tully River was at 9.1 metres and stationary.
The river was expected to stay at that level for about two days, and the bureau could not
yet say whether it had reached its peak.
