NSW: Carr canvasses reforms for commonwealth-state funding

SYDNEY, Feb 27 AAP - NSW Premier Bob Carr today upped his campaign for reform of commonwealth
funding to the states, with a proposal to scrap the Grants Commission entirely and let
a mathematical formula do its job.

In a speech to the Committee for Economic Development of Australia, Mr Carr said the
funding formula discriminated against NSW.

Mr Carr said NSW taxpayers sent $12 billion worth of GST to Canberra each year but
got only $9.5 billion back.
